Starting in September 2021, AIB launched its Future Sparks schools programme, designed to “join the dots for young people and their teachers as they navigate the transitions and key life moments within the stages of formal education.”
The programme is intended to serve as a platform for schools to share their learning as communities of best practice. Teachers are encouraged to share their input and expertise, with industry sharing their stories and learning tools to further strengthen skills-based learning for young people in Ireland.
A key feature of the programme is an online series ‘Future Sparks TV’, a teen-centric approach to real-life stories sparking off conversations and further learning.
One of the episodes focuses on Elizabeth Byrne of Ballyhaunis Beekeepers’ Association, who was selected to talk about her experience with beekeeping. Elizabeth was presented with her award as FIBKA’s Young Beekeeper of the year 2022 at the Summer School in Maynooth University.
